July 9 2006 Day of Recollection - Photo Post 3

The Procession to the Grotto for post-Mass Benediction

This is not truly part of the Day of Recollection, nor was the Mass. But, it is typical for the priest, who is giving the conference talks, to do the last Mass and Benediction. These pictures were taken about 1:05pm and the conference would begin at two leaving plenty of time before the start for people to catch a barbequed hot dog, hamburger or sausage, among other things cheaply available in the school gym each Sunday.

Once again, as in past processon shots, what is not seen in any of these are an estimated 200 people in tow. I don't like moving around too much, because it is the Blessed Sacrament. I would not have been photographing this day, had it not been a special day at Assumption Grotto. Then again, every day seems like a special day.

The lead group of altar boys....

Followed by two altar boys swinging thuribles towards the Blessed Sacrament, each alternating before turning to face forward again. In this photo, the boy on the far side is bowing following his three swings, and he will turn as the other one then walks backwards to do the same.

Father carries the Precious Body of Christ in the monstrance, under the baldacchino. This is used like the baldacchino, or altar canopy in Church.
